A magnitude 4.1 earthquake was felt at 4:05 this morning near Yilan, with the epicenter located 36.8 kilometers south of the Yilan County government, near the coast of Yilan County. The quake, classified as a very shallow earthquake, had a depth of 8.9 kilometers. The maximum intensities recorded were 4 in Yilan County, 3 in Hualien County, and 1 in New Taipei City and Nantou County. The event occurred in the early morning.
