On June 27, Mainland Affairs Council Deputy Minister Liang Wenjie announced an upgrade of the travel alert for China to orange, advising against non-essential trips due to recent threats against Taiwanese people traveling to China. Taipei Mayor Jiang Wan'an emphasized the need for communication and dialogue to protect citizens, rather than escalating conflicts, in response to the new alert. Jiang also questioned how the Republic of China could be considered independent. New Taipei City Mayor Hou Youyi echoed the importance of communication and dialogue between the two sides across the strait, advocating for peaceful interaction based on equality and friendliness.
