Former legislator Guo Zhengliang stated that the Coast Guard has long been neglected, with many measures not implemented, insufficient staffing, and facing the massive Chinese maritime police force, posing a dilemma for Chairwoman Vicky Gou of the Ocean Affairs Council. Guo emphasized the need for the Coast Guard to improve their equipment and capabilities to match the significant gap compared to China, which boasts the largest maritime police force globally.
