Reported 9 months ago

On June 29, 2024, at 2:25 AM, the military conducted a 'National Army Combat Power Display' at the Wude Camp in Penghu, deploying M60A3 tanks to surround simulated enemies. In order to strengthen the army's firepower advantage in anti-armor and anti-landing operations, besides purchasing the first batch of 38 out of 108 M1A2T tanks from the US, plans are in place to extend the life and enhance the performance of 460 M60A3 tanks. This includes procuring new engines and investing 836 million NT dollars to purchase tank gun barrels for the M60A3 tanks from the Defense Ministry's Armaments Bureau. The contract took effect in mid-June with the goal of completing the delivery of tank gun barrels by the end of 2028. The Army confirmed the need for these upgrades to maintain the M60A3 tanks effectively.
