A significant cryptocurrency exchange, Bybit, announced it was a victim of a sophisticated hack that resulted in the theft of approximately $1.5 billion in digital currency. The attack involved the manipulation of a routine Ethereum transfer between wallets, leading to unauthorized transfers to an unknown address. Despite the hack, Bybit reassured customers of the safety of their holdings and stated that it would remain solvent even without recovering the stolen assets, as demand for withdrawals surged.
