As soon as all disabled insurance policies are taken off the market, policyholders looking to transfer the risk of disability and elderly care will have to rely solely on long-term care insurance. After a wave of disabled insurance sales halts in 2020, only AIA and MetLife are currently selling disabled insurance. However, in response to new regulations from the Financial Supervisory Commission, these two insurers will also cease sales by the end of June. The disability insurance market has seen a downturn not only in hospitalization and accident insurance but also in the limited number of disabled insurance policies, with AIA and MetLife announcing that disabled insurance will only be available until June 30, with the future launch of new products still uncertain.
