Recent decline in egg prices in Taiwan with farmgate and wholesale prices hitting a new low in three years has prompted supermarkets, convenience stores, and brands to announce price cuts to stimulate consumer spending. Starting from June 14th, Costco has reduced the price of boxed affordable eggs from NT$50 to NT$47 and offers the cheapest tea eggs at NT$9 each. Carrefour has also lowered the price of 10-pack affordable hand-selected eggs to NT$47-55. RT-Mart and A.mart have discounted various egg products as well. Additionally, 'Niu Qi Donburi Restaurant' in Hukou Township, Hsinchu County, announced free eggs with any donburi purchase from June 11th to the end of August, as egg costs have significantly decreased. This overall trend of egg price reductions across major supermarkets and brands is a boon for consumers, aiming to boost market demand, with hope for other businesses to join in price reductions as well.
