Major tech firms, including Meta, Microsoft, AMD, and Broadcom, have joined forces to create the 'Ultra Accelerator Link' standard for AI data center networking, aiming to challenge Nvidia's dominance. Notably, Nvidia, holding around 80% of the AI chip market, is not part of the collaboration. The initiative seeks to reduce reliance on Nvidia and establish open communication standards for AI accelerators. The specifications will be released in the third quarter of 2024 through the Ultra Accelerator Link Consortium, without participation from Nvidia and Marvell Technologies.
