Reported 8 months ago

A Malaysia Airlines Boeing 737-800 flight experienced an engine failure in the early hours of June 20, prompting an emergency return to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in India. Shortly after takeoff for Kuala Lumpur, flight MH199 witnessed sparks from the right engine, leading the pilot to request a return. Footage captured by passengers showed flames coming from the engine. Fortunately, all 138 passengers and crew onboard safely returned to the airport, and investigations into the cause of the engine failure are underway.
