Cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) have fueled the demand for large data centers, with Malaysia emerging as a powerhouse in Southeast Asia due to its low energy and land costs, as well as favorable policies. Over the past few years, Malaysia has attracted billions of dollars in data center investments, including from tech giants like Google, NVIDIA, and Microsoft. The city of Johor Bahru, adjacent to Singapore, is poised to surpass Singapore and become the largest data center market in Southeast Asia. As the global demand for data centers continues to grow, emerging markets like Malaysia with advantages in energy and land costs are attracting increasing foreign investments.
