Malaysia will pay Arm Holdings $250 million over the next decade to acquire chip design blueprints aimed at boosting local manufacturing capabilities amidst growing AI demand. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that this partnership will enable Malaysia to design and produce its own AI chips, while also establishing Arm's first Southeast Asian office in Kuala Lumpur. The initiative includes training 10,000 engineers and hopes to develop a complete supply chain for advanced industries, fostering the growth of local chip companies.
