Transport Minister Anthony Loke indicated that a cabinet decision on the project's viability is expected by the end of 2024, with ongoing negotiations planned with Singapore if approved. The government is currently reviewing proposals from shortlisted private consortiums, prioritizing those with significant Malaysian ownership.
