An incident in Taichung City in March this year involved a fatal collision between a private ambulance and a male college student riding a motorcycle, resulting in the student succumbing to head injuries. Although the student's blood alcohol level tested at 0.54 mg/l, indicating drunk driving, his mother insisted he did not drink. Upon retesting his eye fluid, no alcohol reaction was detected, leading to a major reversal in the case. Forensic expert Kao Da-cheng explained that postmortem bacterial activity can yield false alcohol readings, even if the individual hadn't consumed alcohol. He emphasized that analyzing eye fluid is the most accurate postmortem alcohol test method, as blood tests may produce inaccurate results after death.
