A male homeroom teacher surnamed Liu at a elementary school in Xinzhuang District, New Taipei City, was exposed for extending inappropriate behavior towards female students, including pulling open a student's clothes to touch her chest and occasionally touching the students' buttocks. When the victims resisted, the teacher reportedly said, 'Your chest is so small, it doesn't matter.' The female students reported the incident to the school authorities, leading to the exposure of the case. The school has reported the incident to the police and initiated an investigation. The teacher has been suspended, and counseling for the affected students has been arranged. The investigation is ongoing, and if confirmed, severe penalties will be imposed, including dismissal and permanent placement on the list of unsuitable personnel for educational institutions by the Ministry of Education. Parents are concerned whether the case will be buried after their children graduate from the teacher's class. Police are investigating the case for alleged sexual offenses under the strong protection of minors law. The Education Bureau is implementing and strengthening gender equality education among teachers and students, ensuring at least 4 hours of gender equality education per semester and at least 2 hours of training for teachers annually, emphasizing the importance of respecting bodily autonomy and reporting crimes via emergency hotlines.
