A male junior high school math teacher in Taipei was dismissed six years after an 8th-grade female student accused him of sexual harassment. The student demanded compensation of 550,000 for emotional distress but lost the case in Taiwan's Supreme Court. The court determined that the conversations between the teacher and student did not constitute sexual harassment. The student claimed mental and emotional trauma but the court ruled against her, citing a lack of causal relationship between the school's handling of the situation and her worsened condition.
