Man, 32, paralyzed within days of Covid due to rare syndrome

Reported over 1 year ago

In the fall of 2022, Dr. William Dugal caught Covid-19 and developed Guillain-Barre syndrome, leaving him fully paralyzed. The syndrome, a rare post-viral complication, can progress from muscle weakness to complete paralysis with no definitive treatment, requiring ventilation for breathing. Despite a near-death experience and two months of in-patient rehabilitation, Dugal, a surgeon, managed to recover, relearn daily tasks, and return to work, gaining a new perspective on patient care.
