A theft occurred in Zhongzheng District, Taipei City, where a man surnamed Xiao took a colleague home on his motorcycle and casually stole a helmet on the roadside, valued at around 2000 NTD. Outraged, the victim immediately reported the incident, leading to the identification and notification of the 43-year-old Xiao and a 41-year-old woman surnamed Liu involved in the case. Surveillance footage captured Xiao reaching out to snatch the helmet dangling from a rearview mirror, handing it to Liu, and speeding away on the motorcycle. Xiao claimed they worked together briefly and decided to help Liu get home as she was unwell but stole due to a lack of helmets. Xiao was subsequently prosecuted for theft. Police caution against committing crimes like opportunistic theft and remind the public to secure valuables to prevent losses.
