On June 28, 2024, in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, a man surnamed Xia was arrested for illegally dumping construction waste on farmland he leased, covering an area of 5600 square meters. Xia rented the land in January and hired drivers to dump mixed construction waste, including plastic, wood, glass, steel bars, pipes, and other miscellaneous waste, for a profit of at least 3 million NTD since then. The prosecutor believed Xia violated the Waste Disposal Act and sought his detention, but the court ruled for him to be released on bail of 30,000 NTD. Investigations by authorities confirmed the illegal dumping, and other individuals involved were also brought in for questioning and clarification of the case.
