Man Arrested for Intentionally Ramming Presidential Office with His Car

On July 1, 2024, at 7:44 am, Deputy Director Chen Guozuo of the Zhongzheng First Police Substation in Taipei announced that a man was arrested for ramming the flowerbed in front of the Presidential Office. The man's car had writings such as 'National Cognitive Warfare,' 'AI Transformation,' and 'Cybersecurity SOS Invasion' painted on it. Prior to this incident, he had honked outside the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) in Neihu and then fled after being advised by police. The man, surnamed Du, then went on to crash into the Presidential Office. Authorities confirmed no injuries but referred to the incident as a case of public endangerment and vandalism, leading to the man's arrest. Du's alcohol test was negative, and no prohibited items were found in his vehicle.
