A man surnamed Yang from Kaohsiung fell into a trap set by a fraud group in October 2023, believing in a high-paying job offer online and contacting a 20-year-old tattoo artist surnamed Xu. Lured with promises of a high-paying job in Thailand, Yang was taken to Cambodia where he was forced to work in a gambling company. After his family paid a ransom of 150,000 NTD, he was released. The fraud group not only tricked victims into working abroad but also engaged in violent debt collection activities, threatening victims and their families. The police arrested Xu and his gang and urged caution to new graduates and job seekers to avoid falling into similar traps.
