According to a report by Ke Mei-yi on SET News Network on June 25, 2024, a man's blood sugar levels were nearing diabetes due to his increased consumption of vegetables like pumpkin and corn, which are actually starches and not considered true vegetables. The man's random blood glucose levels reached a dangerous 744 mg/dL, way above the normal range, leading to uncontrolled blood sugar levels. The doctor warned that even though these starches are of high quality, they have low tolerance in diabetes patients, causing spikes in blood sugar and insulin resistance. Patients with diabetes should consume such starches in moderation.
