A 52-year-old man who has been smoking since the age of 20 developed unusual symptoms such as hoarse voice, difficulty breathing, and the growth of unknown hair in his throat. After 14 years of treatment and deciding to quit smoking in 2020, the hair growth condition stopped. It was suspected that the reconstruction of the throat area using cartilage and skin due to previous injuries, as well as smoking-induced inflammation leading to the transformation of stem cells into hair follicles, might have contributed to the hair growth. After quitting smoking completely in 2020 and undergoing surgery a year later, the condition improved significantly.
