Man Drives Car into Presidential Office, Investigation Under Public Danger and Damage Crimes by City Police Substation

On July 1, 2024, at 6:25 a.m., Taipei City Zhongzheng Police Substation spokesperson, Chen Guozuo, explained the situation after the Presidential Office was rammed. Deputy director and spokesperson of Taipei City Police Zhongzheng Substation, Chen Guozuo, stated that a man surnamed Du drove along Ketagalan Boulevard from east to west and, upon passing the Presidential Office, was noticed by local police officers. When they tried to intercept, the driver accelerated and crashed into the flowerbed of the Presidential Office, damaging three flowerbeds with no injuries reported. The man's breathalyzer test showed zero alcohol content, and the reasons for the collision are being investigated. Police are processing the case under the Road Traffic Safety Violations Act, as well as investigating public endangerment and damage crimes under the Criminal Code.
