In Taoyuan, an elderly man was fined and sentenced to 6 days of community service for publicly insulting a young man who refused to give up his priority seat on a train. The elderly man called the young man 'not human' and used degrading language, leading to a confrontation. Despite apologizing afterwards, the court found his actions unacceptable, as they did not promote public welfare and negatively affected the young man's social reputation. The elderly man can still appeal the decision.
