A man surnamed Du from New Taipei City drove to the American Institute in Taiwan and then to the Presidential Office where he honked repeatedly on the roadway before crashing into a flowerbed. Taken by the police for questioning, he was later referred to the Taipei District Prosecutors' Office for charges of endangering public safety and damaging property. The prosecutor ordered Du to pay a bail of 200,000 NT, imposed travel restrictions, and required his spouse to take responsibility.
