Man Goes on 'Cognitive Warfare' by Ramming Benz into Presidential Office, Claims 'My Wife is a Spy'

Reported 12 months ago

On July 2, 2024, a mentally unstable 49-year-old man named Du from Taipei drove a Mercedes-Benz to the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) to protest by honking the horn and later rammed the steel flower platform in front of the Presidential Office with slogans related to national cognitive warfare, cyber security, AI transformation, and consensus on the car. After being apprehended by military police and regular police, Du was taken to a police station for questioning without a night session and later moved to the prosecutor's office. He was released on bail of 200,000 and restricted from leaving the country or going offshore for 8 months, with his spouse being held responsible. Du's erratic behavior was attributed to possible mental health issues, with his wife mentioning his recent instability and delusional outbursts, including claiming she is a spy or agent.
