Man Harasses Passengers on Taipei MRT to Borrow Money

Reported 8 months ago

On June 20, 2024, at 7:22 am, passengers witnessed a man randomly approaching them on the Taipei MRT asking to lend him NT$100. When reported to station staff, the man fled upon seeing security. The man, often seen on the MRT's Orange or Blue lines, violates public transport laws by soliciting money inside train compartments. Offenders can be fined up to NT$7,500. Passengers try to avoid him as he persistently asks for money, with station personnel noting his previous appearances, suggesting he might exploit people's kindness. Enhanced patrols will be conducted by the MRT company in response to such incidents.
