A man in Taiwan borrowed $1.6 million to consolidate debts two years ago but was asked to sign a $3.3 million promissory note by the lender, which he couldn't repay. When his friend spotted him in a restaurant, the friend informed the creditor, resulting in the man being abducted and beaten in an attempt to reclaim the overdue debt. Despite being injured and hospitalized, the victim is considering peaceful means to resolve the issue and has yet to decide on pressing charges for the assault.
