A 36-year-old man surnamed Zhang in Beitou, Taipei, attempted to hail a taxi in front of a department store, but was refused by the driver. An argument ensued, and Zhang used a concealed samurai sword to stab the driver in the back and damage two taxis. Police arrived and arrested Zhang, who has a history of causing disturbances in the neighborhood. The injured driver is out of danger. The case is being investigated for attempted murder, intimidation, and weapon control violations.
