A 44-year-old man surnamed Chen in Chiayi City committed a murder-suicide on the morning of June 20th. Chen ran to his ex-wife's boyfriend's home in the early morning, attacking and fatally injuring the 42-year-old man with a knife before fleeing to a nearby motel, where he eventually took his own life. Prior to the incident, Chen had posted on Facebook multiple times insulting his ex-wife and the boyfriend, even mentioning a 'termination goal' towards the boyfriend. Light was shed on Chen's history of attempting to harm the boyfriend, failing to do so before due to intervention from others resulting in previous assault charges. Chen's Facebook posts revealed a disturbing mindset where he repeatedly expressed his hatred towards the victims and his meticulous planning to achieve his 'termination goal'.
