Man in Mercedes-Benz who Rammed the Presidential Office Building to be Interrogated by Taipei District Prosecutors in the Morning

Reported 12 months ago

A 49-year-old man surnamed Du rammed his car into the Presidential Office Building in Taipei, damaging three steel flower beds. He claimed it was accidental due to mistakenly stepping on the gas instead of the brake. Taipei prosecutors decided to charge Du with endangering public safety and ordered him to pay a bail of NT$200,000, restrict his exit from the country, and assume responsibility for his spouse. Due to Du's unstable mental condition, he was sent to Taipei City Hospital for treatment. Upon interrogation, Du remained silent in response to questions about his motives. Du, who yesterday shouted 'national security agent' to reporters, was escorted to prosecutors for questioning this morning.
