On June 9, 2024, a 68-year-old man surnamed Chen in Taipei allegedly killed two landlords over a rent dispute and then turned himself in to Hsinchu police. The victim, aged 78, was found dead in an apartment in Wanhua. The suspect and victim, both on the social services list for seniors, were involved in a conflict due to rent-related debts. The suspect, armed with a knife, attacked the blind victim multiple times. The police continue investigating the case as a possible murder due to financial disputes.
