In New Taipei City, a man surnamed Hou kidnapped a friend of a debtor surnamed Gao, who owed him 500,000 NTD but failed to repay, in an attempt to force Gao to settle the debt. Hou and his accomplices beat and held the friend captive, live streaming the violence and demanding the debt be repaid. After police investigation, Hou and his accomplices were arrested in Taoyuan, and the victim was rescued. The case is still under investigation, with conflicting claims from Hou and the victim regarding the motive behind the kidnapping.
