A 47-year-old man in Taichung, Taiwan, who had a long history of smoking and drinking, suddenly experienced difficulty swallowing and vomiting after meals, leading to a significant weight loss of 7 kilograms in six months. Subsequent endoscopy revealed a 7-centimeter tumor in his esophagus, diagnosed as esophageal cancer. Despite the cancer not having spread, the patient will undergo surgery and reconstruction. The doctor emphasized the importance of early detection and noted that esophageal cancer often presents with swallowing difficulties, urging individuals to seek medical attention promptly.
