A man in Taoyuan, Taiwan, who was addicted to gambling, spent all his monthly salary on bets and insulted his wife for bearing three daughters who he claimed 'lose money'. As the daughters reached adulthood, they collectively sued their father to exempt him from their support. The court granted the exemption considering the father's neglect, verbal abuse towards the mother and daughters, domestic violence, and financial irresponsibility. The court also recognized the burden placed on the mother and ruled in favor of exempting the daughters from supporting their father. The decision can be appealed.
