A man surnamed Wu in China met a woman named Tian at a bar in May 2021, where they engaged in a red envelope game while intoxicated. The game escalated with each exchange until Wu transferred 52,000 yuan (approximately 230,000 New Taiwan Dollars) to Tian. The next day, Wu regretted his actions and asked for the money back, claiming he was not in a clear state of mind due to alcohol. However, the court ruled that the transfer was not a gift as they were not in a romantic or close relationship, and the act was more of a joking behavior. Tian was ordered to return the 52,000 yuan to Wu.
