A 20-year-old male, surnamed Hung, who was dissatisfied with social issues, deliberately chose the 10th anniversary of the 'Cheng Chieh Case' on May 21, wielding three knives on a Taichung MRT train to attack people. The Taichung District Prosecutors' Office has now formally charged Hung with attempted murder among other offenses. Investigation revealed that before the attack, Hung sent a text message to a mentor, surnamed Wu, saying, 'If there is still a chance, I will definitely find you first.' Hung's actions showed premeditation, including practicing stabbing actions on fried chicken wrapped in tissue paper during his stay at a Taichung motel. Due to the seriousness of the crimes and the risk of reoffending, the prosecution has requested a heavy sentence for Hung.
