Reported about 1 year ago
In New Taipei City's Zhonghe District, a false police report was made due to a relationship dispute where a man in his 50s, surnamed Xiao, argued with his girlfriend surnamed Chen. Upset, Chen left the house and falsely claimed to the police that there was someone holding a gun in a residence on Minde Street Lane 8 before abruptly hanging up. After police searched the premises and found no gun or suspicious items, they discovered it was a hoax by Chen out of anger towards Xiao. Chen is now facing penalties for false reporting under the Social Order Maintenance Act. The situation turned awkward as Xiao was left bewildered, and the police have summoned Chen for questioning to clarify her motives for making the false report.
