On June 27, 2024, at around 4:10 pm, a man named Lin, aged 59, was rescued from Shimen Reservoir in Longtan District after being found to have fallen into the water with three knife wounds on his body. Authorities believe it was a failed suicide attempt. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and investigations are ongoing. The incident prompted a reminder from authorities to be cautious around the reservoir and seek help rather than resort to suicide.
