Yesterday around 3:00 p.m., a 49-year-old man named Du drove a white Mercedes-Benz car with words like 'National Cognitive Warfare,' 'Cybersecurity SOS Invasion,' and 'AI Transformation' painted on it. He initially caused a scene by honking loudly outside the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) for about half an hour. After being advised by police, Du appeared again about an hour later, this time driving his car onto Ketagalan Boulevard in front of the Presidential Office. At 4:41 p.m., Du suddenly accelerated in front of the office, forcefully crashing into three steel flower beds, causing damage but luckily no casualties. Du, with a prior record of obstruction of freedom, resisted night interrogation following the incident and made cryptic statements like 'national security agent' and 'my wife is a spy.' Despite testing negative for alcohol, due to his unstable mental state, police were unable to question him at night and detained him instead. The authorities are investigating Du's motives in depth and plan to present findings soon to clarify the truth. The incident has raised public concern, with some questioning Du's mental health and the meaning behind the words he painted on his car. The Presidential Office has urged the public to express concerns rationally and not compromise public security with illegal actions, while the police have reinforced security measures to prevent similar incidents from reoccurring.
