In Taipei, a man who was scammed for 600,000 twenty years ago in a vacation investment scheme, recently received a call from a construction company claiming to compensate the victims. They offered him free memorial tower sites which they claimed would skyrocket in value. He ended up buying ten sites for 60,000 yuan, but was later told to buy higher grade sites for 600,000 yuan. His family discovered the scam and he was once again deceived. Authorities suspect that his personal information was leaked from the fraud 20 years ago, leading to this new scam. The victim's family hopes to raise awareness to prevent others from falling victim.
