Man Slashes Himself in Protest at Taiwan High Court After Dissatisfaction with Court's Verdict in Murder Case

Reported 7 months ago

On June 13, 2024, a man named Chen was re-sentenced to life imprisonment after the 2019 'Taiwan Three Corpses Murder Case,' in which he killed his girlfriend and their twin babies, had originally resulted in a death penalty. A 25-year-old man surnamed Fang who was in the vicinity of the Taichung High Court while listening to the verdict was reportedly dissatisfied with the outcome and took a utility knife to his abdomen, causing a disturbance. Fortunately, he was not seriously injured. Chen had committed the murders due to suspicions about his girlfriend's fidelity and had gone to great lengths to conceal the crime, leading to his harsh initial sentencing. The incident with Fang was not related to the murder case but was a protest action against the court's decision.
