On June 30, at 4 am, police in Fengshan District, Kaohsiung, received a report that a man had crashed his car into the metal gate of a jewelry store on Wujia 2nd Road. CCTV footage identified the man driving a stolen BMW. The man had previously stolen the BMW in Xinxing District, and later used it to crash into the jewelry store on two occasions before abandoning the car and fleeing on a scooter. The man, identified as Mr. Huang, later admitted to the police that he harbored a grudge against the store owner following a disagreement over a gold purchase seven years ago, where he believed he was shortchanged 5,000 NT. However, the store owner claimed no recollection of such a transaction. Huang was arrested and charged for property damage, assault, and other offenses.
