In Taichung, a man rushed to the bank to cancel his fixed deposit claiming he needed the money to buy hair growth water, even though he was almost bald. Suspecting a scam, the bank staff alerted the police, who arrived and found that the man had likely fallen for a hair growth water fraud trap due to targeted online advertisements based on big data analysis. The police advised the man against transferring the money and determined it to be a scam. Similar cases of fraud targeting personal needs through big data analysis are on the rise.
