A man named Liao in Taipei crashed his car into the Presidential Office twice in one day in November last year. Upon arrest, police found a gas gun and a 48cm knife in his car. Liao was fined $5,000 under the Social Order Maintenance Act, but his appeal was dismissed by the court. Despite claiming the knife was for cutting fruit for his mother's business and the gun was a toy, the court upheld the original penalty due to his irrational actions and intent to cause public disorder by crashing into the Presidential Office twice in a single day.
