On June 16, 2024, a man wearing black was holding an axe and what appeared to be a Molotov cocktail. He confronted the police near where Dutch and Polish fans were gathered for a match in the European Championship at Hamburg. The man was eventually shot by the police. The motive of the man remains unclear, and it is uncertain which team he supported. The incident occurred in the St. Pauli district before the match started. The police assured that the match was not in danger, redirecting the fans to the stadium despite the disturbance caused by the man during the Dutch fans' parade.
