According to a survey by nippon.com starting in their late teens at around 18 years old, 70% of young people expressed concerns about 'Japan's future,' and 60% were worried about 'their own future.' Japan's national GDP shows no hope and may continue to trend downwards. The IMF's World Economic Outlook report from October 2023 predicted that Japan's nominal GDP in US dollars is likely to fall to the fourth place globally, behind Germany. Concerns and pessimistic comments about Japan's decline are widespread on social media and in articles. A survey conducted by a Japanese foundation revealed that around 26.4% of respondents were aware of Japan's expected drop in GDP ranking. Interestingly, more men (34.8%) were aware of this compared to women (17.5%), with a higher proportion expressing concerns about the future. Overall, about 70.8% expressed worry regarding Japan's GDP ranking and 62.9% were worried about their own futures. The survey, which took place online from December 1st to 4th, 2023, involved 1000 young people aged 17 to 19, with a balanced distribution in terms of age and gender.
