The Marine Affairs Administration held a 'Coast Guard Volunteer Establishment Conference' on Green Island, with Chairperson Kuan Pi-ling stating that the Green Island Coast Guard Volunteer Team is the first in eastern Taiwan and the first to combine with a civilian maritime rescue organization (Taiwan Maritime Search and Rescue Association Taitung Branch). Transitioning from coast guard service cooperation to possessing water rescue expertise, the team will enhance safety in the nearshore and coastal recreation areas of Green Island. The administration mentioned that the Green Island Coast Guard Volunteer Team is the third team established (following Xiao Liuqiu and Fulung) among the 82 coast guard volunteers nationwide. The administration will continue to expand capabilities and resources to maintain maritime safety, encouraging individuals to volunteer and contribute to marine conservation efforts.
