In an exclusive report by the Ministry of Transportation on July 4, 2024, the Maritime industry is highly international. To ensure that the current examination, training, and certification of our country's seafarers comply with the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), every 5 years, each country must undergo an independent assessment of its maritime education, training, examination, competence evaluation, and certification administrative units. Taiwan has been conducting this assessment every 5 years since 2004, to ensure the quality standards meet STCW requirements. The recent 5th assessment confirmed that Taiwan's operations comply with STCW obligations, enhancing the country's seafarer certification recognition internationally for national maritime development.
