A married man named Ah Liang from Hsinchu, Taiwan, deceived a female volunteer named Xiao Mei into going to a love hotel under the guise of consoling her, but he attempted to force himself on her. Xiao Mei managed to escape unharmed by stalling and pretending to use the restroom. Ah Liang, who had to pick up his wife from work, eventually gave up. Xiao Mei reported the incident immediately, leading to Ah Liang being sentenced to 1 year and 8 months in prison for attempted forced sexual intercourse by the Hsinchu District Court. The court emphasized the importance of respecting bodily autonomy.
